Non-Financial Retirement Coaching

Non-Financial Retirement Coaching

We ask these questions during the first session with each of our clients. The reason for this is a negative view of retirement, usually, slows down the BOOMERangs transition process. Depending on the degree of the negative view, a client is asked to complete a few activities. These activities, overtime, help a person change their perspective about retirement and enable them to start exploring with a more positive mindset.

What is Coaching?
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Coaches honor the client as the expert in his or her life and believe every client is creative, resourceful and whole.

Coaching is different from therapy as its focus is future oriented. Coaching is inspirational and draws on a person’s imagination and creativity. Coaching only delves into a person’s past when necessary to envision a future state or determine how to overcome obstacles that may have impeded progress in the past.

Is RETIREMENT coaching right for you?
To determine whether you could benefit from retirement coaching, start by asking:

  1. Are you apprehensive, nervous, or worried about how you will spend your time in retirement?
  2. How complete are your plans, other than financial, for transitioning from career to something new; Non-existent, vague, have a vision, have a plan for the vision? For all of these levels coaching can keep you moving forward
  3. Are you hearing “suggestions” from your spouse/partner for you to get a life?
  4. Since coaching is a partnership, ask yourself whether collaboration, being asked powerful questions, and new perspectives are valued
  5. Having been retired for many months has the “honeymoon” worn off and are you, now, starting to go a little bonkers?

Individual Coaching consists of one-on-one Coaching meetings with BOOMERangs Coach. The coach's job is to guide you through the BOOMERangs' retirement transition process described on the Coaching page. Through discussion and your response to numerous activities, your unique retirement is imagined and brought into reality.
